Erik Sviatchenko could be on his way to Lazio or Fiorentina on loan.
Respected Danish newspaper BT has reported that the defender is likely to go out on loan to Italy with an agreement in place once he proves his fitness.
Sviatchenko has dropped alarmingly out of the picture at Celtic since the turn of the year and suffered a knee injury on his return to the side away to Rosenborg.
FC Copenhagen have been trying to strike a deal with Celtic but haven’t been able to get close to the asking fee in the region of £4m.
Sviatchenko is expected to be out for another eight weeks with Brendan Rodgers planning his defence without the Dane.
Celtic paid Midtjylland £1.5m for the defender 18 months ago but the re-emergence of Dedryck Boyata has cast him into the sidelines.
Fenerbahce and Leicester had been interested in Sviatchenko until he picked up his injury leaving the field free to Lazio and Fiorentina.
