Wes Foderingham believes that Celtic won’t cause any problems to his Sevco team-mates.
The Sevco stopper signed a 12 month extension to his contract yesterday, killing off interest from Bradford City and Southend in an instant, and is planning to party on Saturday night.
Celtic’s 56 match unbeaten run- including six matches against the tribute act- doesn’t impress Foderingham who believes that a repeat of the form that earned a 2-2 draw against Partick Thistle will earn him a win bonus.
“If we can start fast, as we have done most of the games this season, I don’t see us having too many problems, he told The Sun.
“The first Old Firm game of the season is always the most difficult one as both sides are eager to get one up but we know what we are capable of and if we can perform well at the weekend there is no reason why we cannot get the win.
“We strengthened in the summer and I think we will be a lot more competitive this season.
“There’s no doubt last season we did not perform well against Celtic. This year we need to improve and hopefully we can start off with a win.
“As a team we have a point to prove to ourselves because we have not done ourselves justice in the games we have played against them.
Foderingham is likely to be playing behind a new look defence on Saturday with Lee Wallace out for two months and major doubts over the fitness of Bruno Alves and Declan Ralph.
Despite that problem and just three wins from six matches in the SPFL confidence is high at Ibrox in a match that could be critical to Pedro Caixinha’s future at the club.
The fifth best coach in Qatar has been given a number of reminders that a repeat of the 5-1 defeat last season will see him making transitions to Glasgow Airport on Saturday evening.
