Bruno Alves is working to bring Pepe to Ibrox.
The ageing Sevco skipper has revealed that the former Real Madrid star has already been sounding him out about a dream move to work under Pedro Caixinha.
Pepe joined Besiktas in the summer after a decade at the Bernabeu where he picked up a staggering trophy collection that included three Champions League wins, three La Liga successes and various other gongs.
Despite moving to Turkey the 34-year-old defender is fascinated by confrontations and is dreaming of a move to Govan to complete his remarkable career.
Asked about his relationship with Pepe and Cristian Ronaldo Alves told The Sun: “I speak to them all the time about clubs I’ve been at. Cristiano played in Manchester so he knows about Scottish football and Rangers.
“Pepe also played against Rangers before when we were in the same team. Everybody knows about football here in Scotland.
“I spoke about how intense the game is here, and how physical it is. Pepe is like ‘my style is also liking confrontations’. Maybe it’s a place one day he can come to play because he will be pleased.
“I don’t know if it’s possible because he’s now playing for Besiktas in Turkey but football is so small. Everything can happen.
“I never expected to come here but when I got the offer it was my choice because I know all about the club and the football.
“Cristiano and Pepe weren’t surprised about me coming because football is like that. Everything happens so fast.
With their audited accounts until June 2017 still to be published it’s unlikely that the Ibrox war-chest will be able to make a January raid on Besiktas.
Alves was missing from Sevco’s Europa League KO from Progres Niederkorn and missed the recent defeat from Celtic due to a mystery injury.
Rather than cheer on his team-mates from Ibrox Alves enjoyed a weekend break with Ronaldo in Madrid and managed to miss the following match away to Hamilton Accies.
